This all started as these things do – when we were busy with other things. Gillian and I have known each other for years, but only started working together in early 2007. I had the opportunity to visit the US in mid-2007, spending some time in Los Angeles and New Orleans.

Whilst in LA, Gillian mailed me urgently, asking me to take a photograph of the oarfish, one of the many treasures held by the Natural History Museum, for her fish-obsessed 7-year-old son. She had exhausted the Net and needed much more.

From a photograph of faded but still magnificent fish to the idea of a world-wide people’s museum, a community of collectors and their treasures, was just a tiny step. We hope that you will come with us on these next steps as we start to build the Curiosity Cabi.net community. We can hardly wait to see your treasures and to find ways for you to share them with others who share your passion.
